Kronos Struck by Ransomware Wreaking Havoc in the Holiday Season

A ransomware assault on Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG), one of the largest HR and workforce management solution providers in the US, has added to the end-of-year havoc created by the discovery of the Log4Shell vulnerability for certain firms. Kronos Group has been targeted by a ransomware assault that has hampered its clients’ ability to process payroll, manage timesheets, and manage their employees.

Following the incident, employees at Sainsbury’s, Boots, Land Rover, and Jaguar may have their pay delayed until after Christmas. Millions of workers who rely on the system may be unable to access their weekly schedules or even sign in and out during shifts, potentially disrupting pay packages right before Christmas.

Kronos’ UKG Workforce Central, UKG TeleStaff, and Banking Scheduling Solutions services were all down due to an assault on the Kronos Private Cloud, according to the business. “As we previously communicated, late on Saturday, December 11, 2021,  we became aware of unusual activity impacting UKG solutions using Kronos Private Cloud. We took immediate action to investigate and mitigate the issue, and have determined that this is a ransomware incident,” Kronos spokesperson Leo Daley stated.

Payroll issues have also been reported among UKG clients, which, given the time of year, will be a big setback for these businesses and their staff. The corporation has contacted the authorities and is dealing with third-party security specialists. The aforementioned Kronos Private Cloud solutions, on the other hand, maybe unavailable for some time.
