The National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) has issued a warning to UK businesses to be on the lookout for Russian cyber-attacks. This comes after the NCSC blamed Russia for a slew of malicious cyber-attacks in Ukraine. Because of the United Kingdom’s backing for Ukraine throughout the crisis, it is likely to become a target for Russian threat actors.
The conflict originates from Russian fears that Ukraine may join NATO, and as a result, Russia has built up a massive military on the border, raising fears of invasion.
In the wake of deteriorating relations with Russia, the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) has provided guidelines on how UK firms might improve their cyber-resilience. The NCSC has also recommended that an organization harmed by a cyber-attack must contact its Incident Management team, which is available at all times.
In response to the guidance David Carroll, MD of Nominet Cyber said that organizations should take note of the NCSC’s warning today and prioritize its advice to strengthen their cyber-resilience in the face of worsening relations with Russia. This advice reflects the cybersecurity reality that has arisen over the last decade, in which geopolitical activity and real-world violence are increasingly replicated in cyberspace.
